AS Monaco will be looking to turnaround a 1-0 deficit as they host Juventus on Wednesday evening, in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 clash.

The two sides were only separated by Arturo Vidal's second-half penalty last week, as Ricardo Carvalho brought down Alvaro Morata allowing the Chilean to grab the game's only goal from the penalty spot. There was controversy in the decision, as replays showed that the original contact from Carvalho was made outside the box, and Juve should only have been awarded a free-kick instead.

Despite being slight underdogs to progress to the next round, Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov, ex-Manchester United, believes that his side have what it takes to make the next round.

"The Champions League semi-final is within our reach," Berbatov told Tuttosport. "We can do it against Juventus. We're a good team, we've already shown that both against Arsenal and a week ago in Turin. We absolutely did not deserve to lose. In the first half we should have had a penalty, if the referee had given it, it would have been a different game.

Then in the second-half we had a non-existent penalty given against us, but that's football. We look forward with confidence and optimism, we're preparing well for the comeback. We know that Juve are a team which creates a lot, but also gives opportunities. We know we have the ability to get to the next round."

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri chose to speak about the strengths of Monaco, ahead of the clash.

"I don't know for certain what Monaco's tactics will be," said Allegri. But we will try to score as we know what they're about. Monaco are a team that defend well and are physically very strong, so it will be a difficult game, just like the first leg.

It could come down to the finer details. We are in the quarter-finals, we have a chance of going through, and whether we do or not depends on ourselves. We are not that far into the competition yet; we can go even further. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves."

In their respective leagues at the weekend, Juventus continued their good form with a 2-0 win over Lazio thanks to goals from Leonardo Bonucci and Carlos Tevez, whilst Monaco were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Stade Rennais, Bernardo Silva scoring their only goal.

As far as team news goes, the hosts will be without 6ft 8inch striker Lassina Traore as the Ivorian continues to struggle with a tibia problem, whilst midfielders Geoffrey Kondogbia (ankle) and Jeremy Toulalan (hamstring) will face late fitness tests ahead of the match.

In the away camp, Juventus are without wonderkid Paul Pogba due to a thigh injury picked up in their last 16 victory over Borussia Dortmund. Versatile defender Martin Caceres will also miss the game due to an ankle issue. Vidal, the first leg's match-winner, is a doubt with tonsillitis.
