According to various sources, the Nerazzurri are in talks to sign three players; Stefan Jovetic, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Thiago Motta.

The former, Jovetic, has found game time hard to come by at Manchester City, and is apparently keen for a return to Italy to play in the Serie A.

The Montenegrin has score eight goals in 30 appearances for City, having joined in 2013 from Fiorentina where he had enjoyed a great spell, netting 35 times for them in total, including a spell of 14 in 27 games.

A subsequent deal for Inter could be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season, although a fee is yet to be heard.

In terms of midfield targets, Internazionale are believed to be after Thiago Motta of Paris Saint-Germain, a man who has already made 55 appearances for the club between 2009 and 2012.

A return for Motta is becoming increasingly likely as he has not yet signed a renewal at PSG, but it is believed that if he is offered a deal similar to that of teammate Javier Pastore (around €5.5million/year) then the Brazilian-born midfielder will renew.

If he is deemed surplus to requirements, it appears Inter are ready to swoop, and although they might not be able to offer the same contract as PSG, a return to Italy may not be a bad option for Thiago Motta at 32 years of age.

Alternatives to Motta are already being discussed too, with Felipe Melo heavily linked to the club as a former player of Mancini at Galatasaray. Other names include Barcelona’s Alex Song, who will be returning to the Camp Nou after a loan spell at West Ham, and Lucas Leiva, who it is believed Liverpool are willing to sell.

Geoffrey Kondogbia is the final of the three who is heavily linked, and as developments progress it seems they may not be priced out of a deal after all as his agent lowered the midfielder’s asking price down to €25million from €40million as he looks to engineer a big move for his client.

At just 22 years old, Kondogbia is one of the brightest and most sought after talents in football, with teams such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal keeping tabs on the French international.

After missing out on Yaya Toure, it is understandable Mancini would turn to someone of Kondogbia’s skill set. An intelligent defensive midfielder who is able to play the ball well, tackle decisively, intercept in key phases and bring the ball out from in front of the defence, he would be a superb signing for Il Biscione.

Mancini is also interested in Medhi Benatia, who is rumoured to want a return to Italy despite his agent denying, and Inter are expected to make an approach for the defender if indeed they have not already. Juventus are also interested.

Another player Inter are considering a move for is Juan Cuadrado, who has emerged as unhappy with the playing time he has received under Mourinho and has allegedly scheduled a meeting with the Chelsea boss for clarity over his future. Roma and Inter are the interested parties hoping to pounce if he decides to leave.
