The Nerazzurri are reported to be interest in Matias Kranevitter, a 22-year-old defensive midfielder hailing from San Miguel de Tucuman.

Football-Italia claims Inter are “inches away” from signing him, and will be looking to loan him out once signed to gain him more experience.

Affectionately known as “Pac-Man” due to his nature of hunting down attackers, it is suspected a bid of $7million has been submitted by Inter, an amount which River Plate are happy with.

Jose Luis Luraschi, the player’s agent, caused a stir in the winter when he suggested the player was close to signing for Inter, despite the fact no deal was eventually done.

Kranevitter traveled to Naples in December to attain an EU passport, allowing him to sign for an Italian club without taking up any of the three non-EU spots in the squad.

Widely regarded as a good young talent, the Argentine has drawn comparisons to Javier Mascherano in his playing style, and has amassed 48 appearances for River.

After initially breaking through under coach Gustavo Zapata, Mattias found it difficult to maintain a squad place due to the already established and experienced midfield duo of Cristian Ledesma and Leonardo Ponzio.

It was under Marcelo Gallardo that he became a fully established starter and he instantly became a first team regular. Gallardo saw him as an ideal player to sit deep and distribute the ball, dictating the tempo of the game in the process.

A superb tackler and great reader of the game, he would be a useful addition for any of the aforementioned three teams, although it appears despite the European football Sampdoria may have, they cannot match the Nerazzurri for wages and transfer fee offered.
