The 32-year-old centre back has been looking for a move back to Brazil and apparently his wishes will be granted, as Santos is close to complete a move for the experienced defender who joined Chelsea back in 2004.

However, Santos doesn't have enough money to pay for Alex's transfer fee so they will be looking for a swap deal. Rumors have surfaced that young starts Gabriel Barbosa (commonly known as Gabigol) and Henrique are expected to be included on any deal although it's not clear whether if they will be purchased by Milan or if they're only available for loans.

Santos chairman Modesto Junior Roma is expected to hold talks with AC Milan directors over the weekend but things are set for a deal to be completed sooner than later. He's not the only experienced player set to join Santos permanently, as Robinho is also expected to sign a multi-year deal with El Peixe once his current Milan deal expires.

Alex isn't a marquee name but he has had a steady career ever since leaving Brazil 11 years ago and he has won titles in England, France and Holland. This season he has played in 21 matches for the Rossoneri side and he scored three goals, all of them at the Serie A level.
