Domenico Di Carlo has had his contract with Cesena terminated following the clubs relegation from Serie A.

Di Carlo arrived at Cesena on the 8th December when Pierpaolo Bisoli left the club after fourteen consecutive games without a win. Di Carlo failed to win in his first five games in charge before back to back wins at the end of January / start of February over Parma and Lazio. Unfortunately for Di Carlo that was as good as it got and they could only manage one win in their last 17 games which saw the club relegated to Serie B.

Cesena were promoted last year via the playoffs but they always looked out of their depth in Serie A and managed to win just four matches. They ended up 19th in the league but they would have been bottom had Parma not been deducted seven points for their financial problems.

Cesena will now appoint a new manager who they hope will turn their fortunes around in an attempt to get back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
