Ignazio Abate has agreed a four year extension with A.C. Milan, at will now stay at the San Siro for four more years.

The 28-year-old’s current contract was due to end at the end of this month, but the Rossoneri have announced today that the full-back has signed a contract that keeps him in Milan for four more years.

The terms of the deal have not yet become clear, however it was stated that the Italian fullback has earned €1.8m per season.

Ignazio Abate took to Twitter to express his joy at signing a new contract by tweeting "A contract signing that fills me with pride. Ten years of honouring the Milan jersey, thank you AC Milan."

Abate made his Milan debut in 2003 and he has gone on to make 200 appearances for the club, despite going on the first five seasons on loan throughout various clubs in Italy. The Rossoneri look to revamp their entire squad with new transfers and the release of various players, however they have still been able to renew the right back.

Abate was apart of four international tournaments for the Italian national team: the 2008 Summer Olympics in China, he was a runners up at UEFA Euro 2012 in Poland & Ukraine, third place in the Confederations Cup in Brazil in 2013 and apart of the disapointing World Cup squad in Brazil last summer. He has an international goal to his name when he scored in his home stadium on November 15, 2013 against Germany in a 1-1 draw.

Abate played 24 matches this season, ridden with injury and score his only goal for Milan last season.
