Palermo are looking to strenthen their attack following the transfer of Paulo Dybala to Juventus, and Jonathan Calleri appears to be at the top of their list after allegedly making an offer around the €8million mark for the services of the Boca Juniors forward.

The 21-year-old has been an important player for Boca Juniors in the local league, though he hasn't been a regular starter since the arrival of Daniel Osvaldo, who is expected to return to Southampton after his loan expires at the end of June.

He has scored some important goals both at league and Copa Libertadores level, and has been rumored to be a target among European clubs with a Serie A team reportedly interested in his services.

Palermo must look to replace Dybala

According to several sources, Palermo are looking to bolster their attacking line following the departure of Dybala to Juventus. The Argentine sensation will surely be close to impossible to replace but with plenty of money to spend after the transfer of their former star, Palermo can target quality players and Calleri seems to be at the top of their list.

Boca Juniors chairman Daniel Angelici spoke about the possible move and even though he said that Calleri has a €12millon buy-out clause on his contract, he said he hasn't heard anything regarding a possible transfer for the forward. This is despite the forward's camp stating that an €8million offer was made to the Argentinian giants.

The player is keen on a European move

Angelici stressed to reporters that Calleri's contract had been improved "earlier this year" with an increased buy-out claused which "can be considered the starting point for negotiations". He went on to admit that, although the player's representatives are "interested" in a possible move, the club hasn't received a formal offer at this point.

Calleri has been with Boca Juniors throughout his entire career and has improved year-by-year.
