Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia has struggled massively after signing for AS Roma during the January transfer window. The former CSKA Moscow star hasn't been able to adjust his game to the pace and physicality of the Serie A and, apparently, Roma are keen to give him a chance to succeed somewhere else.

A loan may be best for all involved

Manager Rudi Garcia wasn't pleased with what Doumbia showed over the last months of the season and with an eye towards the 2015-16 season, he doesn't appear to be in his plans. A loan could be the best option and there are teams who have already expressed interest in the Ivory Coast international.

As Sky Sports Italia has reported in recent hours, current Greek Super League champions Olympiakos have been monitoring Doumbia's situation over the last few months. They feel he would be a good addition to their side as they prepare for another UEFA Champions League campaign.

It has been reported that the team have already enquired to Roma about Doumbia's situation and the proposal is, reportedly, a season-long deal that would take the struggling forward out of the Stadio Olimpico.

Despite being one of Europe's most sought-after strikers, things haven't gone well in Rome

The 27-year-old has lacked a spark since joining Roma from Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow. Often a player capable of creating chances on his own either with pace or with his technical ability, Doumbia hasn't settled well in Italy and has lost some of the traits that made him one of the most coveted strikers in Europe only a year ago.

Even though it might be possible that he only needs more playing time to get back to his old form, that would be hard to get at the Serie A giants considering how poor and helpless he has looked in recent months.

With Mattia Destro returning to the club - even though he has an offer to leave as well - Roma are set to make a decision as they are in need to offload at least one of the two forwards for the upcoming season.

Doumbia only scored two goals for AS Roma this past campaign. He played in 13 games after arriving during January.
