With Roma qualifying for the Champions League once again, they need to bolster their squad as early in the summer as possible. The newest names linked with moves to the capital are the Genoa pair of Italian international Andrea Bertolacci and ex-Spurs winger Iago Falque

Bertolacci has been at Roma before

Bertolacci was once at Roma, though he never made an appearance in 3 seasons before joining Lecce on loan. It was in that two-year loan move where he impressed the most and in summer 2012 he was involved in the deal to sign Genoa's Panagiotis Tachtsidis. 50% of Bertolacci's player rights were tagged for €1million as well as 50% of Tachtsidis' rights for €2.5million.

He has gone from strength to strength with Genoa as he's already made almost 100 league appearances for them. His excellent form for Genoa has earned him two caps so far for the Italian national side. Now regarded as the heir to the hevily-gilded throne of Andrea Pirlo, a move to the Champions League can surely only help him.

Falque was never given a chance in the Premier League

Spanish winger Falque has had a less simple route to the top. After starting his career with Juventus, he failed to make an appearance and joined Villarreal B on loan. His impressive form earned him a €1 million move to Tottenham Hotspur, but he played his only Premier League match in late December 2012, coming on for the final five minutes at the end of a 2-1 loss at Everton.

He went on successful loans to La Liga sides Almeria and Rayo Vallecano which earned him the move to Genoa in August 2014. He scored his first Serie A goal on 2 November in a 4–2 win at Udinese, going on to score 13 Serie A goals as Genoa only narrowly missed out on qualification to the Europa League. After doing the rounds for five years, the move to Roma would be the perfect scenario for Falque.

Could these moves be possible? Well, with Bertolacci it could go either way. He could move because of the close connection with the club and the guarantee of Champions League football, or he could remember not making an appearance for three seasons and wait for another top team to come knocking. With Falque it seems that move is more likely. That being said, the pair would slot right into Champions League football and a league title-challenging team in Roma.
