The 30-year-old defender is currently in Chile with the Brazil national team in the Copa America but that wouldn't be a problem to finalise the transfer deal.

Inter Milan have been long linked with a plethora of defenders, as manager Roberto Mancini is keen to strengthen the team at both ends of the pitch ahead of the 2015-16 season. Joao Miranda, in fact, has been a target of the team even before the former Manchester City manager arrived at the club but since the centre back has the approval of Mancini, he could become the team's first signing for the next year.

The long time target should sign on soon

According to reports, Inter has reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid on a transfer fee for the defender and the two-year deal would pay Miranda around 2.5M per season. The transfer fee, on the other hand, is reported to be on the 15M range including bonuses.

Miranda was a very important player for Atletico Madrid over the past few seasons but it seems he either lost a yard of pace or he simply lost his place in the starting eleven. With Diego Godin cementing his place as the leader of the defence and Jose Maria Gimenez emerging as a quality player both now and for the future, Miranda had become Diego Simeone's third choice and considering he's well valued around Europe, they have decided to cash on him before it's too late.

Despite losing his place, Miranda is still a quality defender

Even though the deal hasn't been announced formally, that could happen as soon as the player ends his participation with Brazil in the 2015 Copa America. It would be Miranda's first stint in the Serie A as he has previously played for Coritiba, Sochaux, Sao Paulo and Atletico since the 2011-12 season.

Miranda is known for his aerial ability and strong tackling. He is quite an asset in the attack as well. He scored 11 goals in 111 games during his tenure with Los Colchoneros, over his four-year span with the squad.
