After a season where they were managed to conquer a berth in the upcoming UEFA Europa League campaign, Sampdoria are keen to bolster their attacking options for the next season and even though Enner Valencia remains their top target, they are already testing the market for cheaper alternatives.

One of the team's targets, according to several sources, is no other than Greece international Konstantinos Mitroglou who's currently contracted with Sky Bet Championship side Fulham.

Mitroglou fits the bill for what Sampdoria is currently looking for. He's an experienced player that has proved himself at the highest level of competition, he has a lot of international games under his belt but most importantly, he could be a cheaper option since he hasn't played much since he joined Fulham back in the January transfer window last January. In fact, he spent last season on-loan with Olympiakos since he failed to settle at Craven Cottage.

According to several reports, Mitroglou is not having the time of his life in England and he could be sent out on loan once again as both parties agree than an exit would be the best outcome for this situation. Mitroglou doesn't want to play in the English Championship and Fulham want to offload him since he costs them expensive wages per week, and will not be kept in the side if he is uncomfortable playing with the Cottagers.

Sampdoria are not alone on the Mitroglou sweepstakes, however, as other Serie A teams like Udinese and Sassuolo - as well as Turkish giants Fenerbahce - are all targering the coveted 27-year-old striker who played a big part in Greece's qualifying race to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Mitroglou seemed to re-discover his best form this past season with Olympiakos as he scored 19 goals in 34 matches for the Greek giants. He has shown he can produce when he's settled and it seems joining Sampdoria would be the best move he could make at this point in his career.
