Just hours after Milan announced a deal in place for Carlos Bacca of Sevilla, they have added another forward in the form of Brazilian Luiz Adriano.

The Liverpool and Arsenal target will join on a contract taking him through to 2020, in a deal believed to be worth around £5.5million.

Adriano, 29, had been the subject of transfer interest from Galliani and co. for quite some time, and it appeared the player had his sights set on a move to Milan from the beginning.

A pacey, powerful and clinical forward, he has a good record in European competitions, scoring 20 in 41 Champions League appearances as well as seven goals in 10 Europa League games.

With 128 total goals in 265 games for Shakhtar (with 43 assists), there is no question he can become a key player at Milan instantly, and is already in his prime.

He joined the Ukrainian club in 2007 from Internacional, where he began his youth career, and has been a great servant to the club it is fair to say.

Door open for Menez exit?

With Milan now looking good in the forward department, it may add fuel to the speculation that top scorer Jeremy Menez may leave the club. Reports suggest that a number of clubs, including Liverpool, are interest in his services.

Of course, the price would have to be correct, and his 16 goals in the Serie A last season are nothing to be sniffed at.

However, new manager Sinisa Mihajlovic may favour moving the Frenchman into a wider role, something that would perhaps suit him better given the arrival of Bacca and Adriano, two natural strikers.

Serie A shake-up to come next season?

There have been big spenders already in this mercato in Inter and AC, which could mean that they both improve drastically on last season's respective finishes.

A wealth of new talent has been brought in to Milan, hoping to restore both teams back to the elite of European football.

The question remains; what other signings will be made, and will the spending trend continue?
