Geoffrey Kondogbia has told AC Milan supporters that they should instead direct their whistles and jeers at those who said there was an agreement in place for the Frenchman to join them.

Kondogbia, 22, joined the Nerazzurri from Monaco for a fee believed to be around €35million, and was given a baptism of fire as he featured against Milan at the International Champions Cup game in Shenzhan, China.

Antonio Nocerino certainly welcomed him with hostility, scything into him from behind that resulted in a red card for the Italian, a feat not common in preseason friendlies.

Nothing was promised to AC

In an interview with Tuttosport, Kondogbia said they [Milan] can "whistle me if they want to" but did state that really Milanisti should "whistle at those who said I would join them."

He went on to add that he "never signed" for Milan and admitted  "I never gave them my word."

Further to this, he conceded that Milan made an offer that was "financially superior to Inter's" but it was coach Roberto Mancini who "explained the project" and convinced the former Monaco man to join.

Kondogbia settling in well to life in Italy

Serie A is the third major league of Kondogbia's young career, having also featured in Ligue 1 with Lens and Monaco as well as Sevilla in the Liga BBVA.

He confessed that he was "not used to three hours of preparation" referring to the tough Italian training regime.

"The training sessions are much longer" he added, "with respect to Monaco they don't even compare."

Evra deciding factor in transfer?

Further on in the interview with Tuttosport, the Nemours-born midfielder went on to express how his French international team-mate Patrice Evra had provided a glowing reference of Serie A.

"He told me if you do well in Italy, you're ready to do well anywhere" Kondogbia recalled.

"Once you've been here, nothing can put you in difficulty."

Kondogbia appears to be settling into Inter life well, and he promises to be a very important factor in the Nerazzurri ambitions for the upcoming season.
