New Inter Milan defender Miranda has said that his new club’s main priority is to make a return to Champions League football.

The Brazilian moved to the San Siro from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in a deal which was believed to be worth around £10.6m.

Miranda has his say on Inter's objectives

When asked about his move to Inter at the unveiling press conference, he said that it wasn’t a “difficult choice” to make the move to Italy as Inter are a “great club”.

Miranda is one of the three defenders that have been brought in to help improve their back-line, with Jeison Murillo and Martin Montoya also making the move. He has acknowledged that this new look defence will take time to gel as they have to get to “know each other”.

When asked about the aspirations for the 2015-16 season, the 30-year-old said their goal is to win and have a team with “winning mentality” but was quick to highlight that the Champions League was the “first objective”.

Miranda is one of many new signings

Inter have shown that they mean business splashing out €72.7m on new recruits this summer with Stevan Jovetic, Jonathan Biabiany, Francesco Forte, Vincenzo Tommasone, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Davide Santon and Xherdan Shaqiri all joining the aforementioned trio.

Miranda made his debut on Monday night along, with Manchester City loanee Jovetic, when they were defeated 1-0 by Galatasaray. He played the full 90 minutes in the heart of the defence alongside Murillo, while Jovetic came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute.

Despite the cameo appearance, the Montenegrin forward was pleased with his opening game saying that he felt “good” considering that he hadn’t played “in a while”. Even though he's had a lack of game time, the 25-year-old has said he feels good “physically” but realised that there is still some “work to do” before he can reach his full potential.
