Fiorentina are interested in luring AS Roma winger Juan Iturbe to the Stadio Artemio Franchi this window, according to various sources.

The Argentine's debut season yielded a paltry two goals and may see his game time dwindle with the arrival of Mohamed Salah from Chelsea last week.

Fiorentina will head into the new campaign with a new coach at the helm, Paulo Sousa, and the Portuguese is keen to strengthen his side after an impressive pre-season.

Iturbe netted eight times and created four assists with Verona during the 2013/14 campaign, where he earned his big money move to the capital.

Flattered to deceive

Though life in Roma colours began with a bang when the Argentine netted his side's second against Juventus in October, the winger's next telling contribution would come against Fiorentina in January, assisting Adem Ljajic to net against his former employers.

Iturbe completed 90 minutes on just four separate occassions last term, prompting coach Rudi Garcia to dip into the transfer market and secure the services of Cagliari winger Victor Ibarbo on a temporary basis.

The ex-Verona man did, however, net Roma's opener against arch-rivals Lazio as Roma secured second place and automatic UEFA Champions League qualification. Garcia may be keen to retain the winger's services given that he showed flashes of his form prior to his arrival.

Sousa looking to strengthen

Given Mohamed Salah opted to join neighbours Roma in lieu of extending his loan deal in Florence for an additional year, La Viola are now seeking a wide option capable of producing the goal outlay the Egyptian mustered during his six month loan spell last term.

Salah was direct, nimble and was adept at finding the back of the net regularly and although Iturbe has shown little signs of those traits in Roma colours, he may burgeon in the correct environment.

Sousa's side retain interest in both Liverpool's Fabio Borini and Dnipro's Nikola Kalinic.
