Palermo's search for a Paulo Dybala replacement looks set to carry on for even longer, having been priced out of a move for UD Las Palmas forward Sergio Araujo.

The former Barcelona starlet netted on 26 separate occasions last term in the Segunda as Los Amarillos secured promotion back to the big time via the playoffs.

The 23-year old had been linked with a move to Scottish champions Celtic as well as Real Sociedad although it is believed that interest has cooled.

The Rossonero have reportedly saw a €13 million bid rejected as the Canary Islands based outfit demand that they meet Araujo's €18 million release clause - a fee the Sicilians are unwilling to pay.

Second to have been missed out on

At the end of last month, Arsenal and Costa Rica's Joel Campbell had been heavily linked with a loan move to Sicily and a move looked imminent but the club appear to have given up hope of signing the 23-year-old.

Club president Maurizio Zamparini visited London in order to iron out the final details of what looked a done deal but it has since been reported that he found concluding the deal tricky task.

In an interview at the start of the month, Campbell's agent, Joaquim Batica admitted that "teams of the major European leagues" found his client an "attractive" option.

He went on to say that Campbell, who impressed at last years World Cup, was back with Arsenal to "fight for his place" in Arsene Wenger's side.

Palermo won't let Belotti go

Palermo had reportedly reached an agreement with Serie A rivals Torino over the €7.5 million transfer of promising forward Andrea Belotti according to Di Marzio. However, the club were quick to put an end to the reports, by taking to Twitter to tell fans they refuse to sell Belotti to Torino.

The 21-year-old has been tipped for big things having scored 16 times for Palermo in 62 games.

Belotti leaving would cause manager Giuseppe Iachini further problems as he would be left with raw and untested pair Accursio Bentevigna and Joao Silva to vie for the striker spot.
