According to the Turkish newspaper Aktif Haber, Inter Milan want to sign Wesley Sneijder in January for a cut-price fee, but may also consider the option of agreeing a deal for the player to rejoin the Italian side next summer.

Inter have already conducted business with Galatasaray this season by agreeing deals for midfielder Felipe Melo and defender Alex Telles.

A possible return to the San Siro?

Sneijder first signed for Inter in August 2009 for a reported fee of €15million from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Sneijder was a massive success in his four years at the club, he was pivotal in Inter winning the treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League titles.

After reportedly falling out of favour with Inter due to contract renewal issues, Sneijder agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Turkish giants Galatasaray on 20 January 2013 for a fee of €7.5million. Thousands of Galatasaray fans welcomed the Dutch international at the Istanbul Atatürk Airport as soon as Sneijder's exact arrival time was announced by the club on their official website. Sneijder signed the official contract on 21st January at the Türk Telekom Arena.

Potential teammates

If Sneijder was to rejoin he'd join the line of quality Inter midfielders, they already have Gary Medel, Ivan Perisic, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Fredy GuarinMarcelo Brozović and Felipe Melo in their ranks.

The Italian giants are also set to make a move for Turkish international defender Semih Kaya for a fee of around €7 million as they seek to strengthen their defence in order to return to the Champions League next season.

With Inter on the backfoot after a dissapointing 8th place finish last season, the re signing of an old face like Sneijder could be the signing that would have the fans believing again.
