In an attempt to keep its burgeoning, young core together, Juventus is reportedly set to offer star striker Alvaro Morata a new, more lucrative contract in order to keep the Spaniard in Turin.

This is mainly due to the buy-back option Real Madrid has should the team wish to lure their former academy-product home to Spain. Los Blancos can purchase Morata for €30 million in June, but Morata will have to agree to the deal himself.

Juve want to keep hold of their star

Given Morata’s showings for Juve and his youth (only 22 years of age), it is no surprise that Real are interested. Morata contributed 13 goals and 5 assists for the Bianconeri last season and has come out of the gates flying this year. He scored a brilliant goal to give the Italian giants a win at Manchester City to open the group stages of the Champions League and looks a good bet to improve upon his 13-goal output this season.

Gazzetta World reports that “Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta will sit down with the player in January” and offer a contract worth “€3.5 million for each campaign.” Said new contract will supposedly run through 2021. Morata is currently signed through the “summer of 2019” and is paid “€2.5 million per season plus bonuses” per Gazzetta World.

With Paul Pogba’s name constantly in the transfer rumor mill, it would likely provide a source of assurance not only to Juventus fans, but to also the Juventus brass to know that Morata is locked in for the long term.

Out with the old and in with the new

Juve has had a veteran-heavy team in recent years, but now boasts a young and exciting core to match the more seasoned players. Morata and Pogba spearhead a group that also includes talented young defenders Daniele Rugani and Alex Sandro, midfielders Stefano Sturaro, Roberto Pereyra and Mario Lemina (should he impress in his loan spell) as well as forward Paulo Dybala.

The logic is clearly there as to why Juve would want to keep Morata away from Madrid. There is a world of potential for the Bianconeri’s young core, and a team featuring Morata as well as the likes of Dybala, Rugani and Sturaro could continue the Old Lady’s trophy-winning ways well into the next decade.
