Juventus boss, Massimiliano Allegri, has reaffirmed his confidence in his side's ability to challenge for the Scudetto.

The Old Lady earned a creditable point at the San Siro against third placed Inter but remain rooted in the bottom half of the table, nine points adrift of leaders Fiorentina.

Allegri, though, believes his side can muscle their way back into title contention as they prepare for the visit of Atalanta next weekend.

Satisfied with second-half display

“We have to improve on the timing of runs and passes, but let’s also not forget that I’ve only had the full squad for two days," Allegri told Sky Italia post-match. "It was a decent performance in the circumstances.”

The boss singled out Andrea Barzagli for praise, commending his determination and pleading for his attacking stars to show a similar level of grit as the Italian displayed on Sunday evening.

Justifies Zaza inclusion

Allegri was also quizzed on his decision to opt for Simone Zaza in attack, with Paulo Dybala relegated to the substitutes bench.

"I thought Zaza did very well and proved he belongs at Juventus," said the Italian. "He caused problems for the Inter defenders and worked hard for the team."

The Juventus boss also believes Dybala must mould into a trequartista against sides who sit deep, with Alvaro Morata able to be paired alongside any of Juve's forwards.

Believes Pogba will return to his best

Allegri, in the meantime, believes Paul Pogba will return to his best should he be able to "maintain the intensity throughout the full 90 minutes."

The Frenchmen sustained an ankle knock international duty with France and yielded yet another disappointing display, though his performance markedly improved after the interval.

The manager was also underlined his belief in the squad, but pleaded to his players to improve their finishing infront of goal as a "team that scores nine goals in eight games cannot win the Scudetto."

"Getting one point here doesn’t move the table much, but it stops Inter breaking away," said Allegri.
