Giuseppe Sannino has been sacked as manager of Serie A minnows Carpi, the club confirmed in a statement on Tuesday morning.

The 58 year old tactician had only been in charge for a month but with the club - as expected - continuing to struggle with life in Italy's top flight, he was relieved of his duties despite giving the club their first ever victory in his first game in charge.

In his short spell that lasted just five games asides from the victory over an injury ravaged Torino, he lost on three ocassions, two of which were against fellow promoted clubs Frosinone and Bologna

Castori back in charge

Fabrizio Castori, who started the season as manager, has been re-instated with immediate effect the club detailed in the aforementioned statement.

Castori took charge of the Biancorossi for the first time in the summer of 2014 and spectacularly lead the club against all odds to the Serie B title on a shoestring budget.

With four losses and no victories in the first six games the club sacked him but in a massive U-turn they have decided to give him another chance. The statement concluded that Castori would be taking control of his first training session this afternoon at 3 o' clock local time.

Tricky tie to kick second spell off

Castori's first match back in the dugout comes away to high-flying Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon.

The MAPEI Stadium outfit have been in fine form this season and lately recorded a victory over four time reigning champions Juventus with thanks to a wonderufl free kick from Nicola Sansone.

After 11 games, the club sit joint-bottom of the table on six points with Hellas Verona - whom they drew with in what proved to be Sannino's final game as manager. Only goal difference has them above an awful Verona side.
