Genoa travel to Rome on Sunday to take on Rudi Garcia's side with both sides in need of a valuable three points.

Neither team has been in good form in Serie A and things got much worse in midweek when they lost home Coppa Italia ties to lower league opposition. On Tuesday Genoa lost 2-1 to Lega Pro side Alessandria after extra time and a day later Roma were beaten on penalties by Serie B's Spezia which has served to increase the pressure on Gian Piero Gasperini and Garcia.

Roma form

Roma made a good start to the campaign but they have now gone seven games without a win in all competitions and they now sit 5th in the league with 29 points. They are now seven behind Internazionale at the top of Serie A and with rumours circulating that Garcia is close to the exit door it is vital that they pick up all three points.

Genoa form

Genoa are struggling this season and are currently 17th, just two points clear of the relegation zone. They have won just one of their last nine games in all competitions and they are yet to win in their eight Serie A games away from the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris. Whilst a trip to Rome would usually be considered a difficult game confidence is low at the moment and Genoa could take advantage of the Giallorossi's struggles.

Team News

Garcia will not be able to rely on the service of Francesco Totti, Kevin Strootman, Vasilis Torosidis, Ezequiel Ponce or Elio Capradossi for Sunday's game. However, Gervinho and Seydou Keita should be available for selection as Garcia looks to save his job.

Gasperini has similar selection issues and will be without the suspended duo Leonardo Pavoletti and Diego Perotti. He will also have to overcome injuries to Antonio Donnarumma, Nicolas Andres Burdisso, Giovanni Marchese, Alassane Tambe' and Blerim Dzemaili as Genoa look to move away from the danger zone.

Possible teams

Roma (4-3-3) - Szczesny; Florenzi, Manolas, Rüdiger, Digne; Pjanic, De Rossi, Nainggolan; Salah, Dzeko, Gervinho

Genoa (3-4-3) - Perin; Izzo, De Maio, Ansaldi; Figueiras, Rincon, Tachtsidis, Laxalt; Gakpé, Pandev, Ntcham

Prediction

With both sides struggling at present it's difficult to judge how this will go. When both are on form Roma are a better side but they have been struggling for goals lately and a draw looks the most likely outcome.
