Andrea Ranocchia appears to be close to a move to Sampdoria CalcioMercato report despite Milan remaining in the background looking to make a move themselves.

The Inter Milan centre half has played a lesser role this season than he has in his previous five since signing from Genoa making just 10 appearances in total for the Scudetto chasing Nerazzurri.

The 27-year-old was replaced by Mauro Icardi as captain at the start of the season in which appears to have been the beginning of the end for the Italian international.

Mercato long interest

All transfer window, Ranocchia has been linked with a move away from the San Siro with the aforementioned Sampdoria, AC Milan and Premier League side Liverpool all reportedly keen on him. The latter however are presumably no longer interested having signed Steven Caulker on loan until the end of the season.

Milan were said to be ready to offer Christian Zapata as part of a deal that would see Ranocchia go to the rossaneri but such talk has been almost non-existent in Italian papers for a couple of days.

Bologna gave up as Ranocchia was "not a priority"

Bologna had reportedly been ready to make a move for him but sporting director Pantaleo Corvino said that despite agreeing with Roberto Donadoni to "shore up the defence" that a "central defender was not the priority."

The club opted to add to the full back department and welcomed Juan Zuniga in on loan from Napoli ahead of last weekend's 2-2 draw with Lazio.

Dodo signs with Sampdoria

Ranocchia's Inter teammate Dodo yesterday agreed on a loan until the end of the season with the Stadio Luigi Ferraris club.

The Brazilian, formerly of Roma underwent his medical in the morning and took part in his first training session that same afternoon a club statement confirmed. Playing time has been at a minimal for the 23-year-old as he's played second fiddle to Alex Telles and Yuto Nagamoto for the majority of the season.
