The Colombian's career thus far

Since arriving at Inter from FC Porto on loan in 2012 (he was signed by Inter for £7.7million once his loan expired), Guarin had played in 114 league matches, recording 15 goals and 27 assists.

After his career began at Envigado and transitioned to Boca Juniors and Saint-Etienne, the Colombian midfielder made a name for himself at Porto from 2008 to 2012, a span in which he won ten major titles, including three Primeira Liga championships and the 2011 Europa League trophy.

Guarin also has accumulated 58 national team caps for Colombia since 2006, representing his nation at the 2011 Copa America and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was unfortunately ruled out of last summer's Copa Ameríca after suffering a muscular right leg injury before the tournament.

Shanghai join the Super League splash crew

After missing out on Chelsea midfielder Ramires - to fellow Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning (Ramires signed for an astonishing £25million), Shanghai now have their own talented midfielder to boost their production.

Coach Gregorio Manzano commented on the club's acquisition, saying it will "greatly enhance" his squad for the upcoming season.

"We look forward to creating great chemistry between him and the team, especially his compatriot [Giovanni] Moreno to make our attack even more dangerous for the next Super League season."
