Last time these two met, AS Roma came out on top winning 2-1 at Artemio Franchi. Goals coming from Mohamed Salah and Gervinho for the away side, whilst Fiorentina managed a late consolation through Khouma Babacar.

Friday night's fixture promises to be as close and entertaining, as the scrap for third continues.

Form

Roma are on some fine form at the moment and have won all of their last five games. Their last defeat was actually near the end of January, in the form of a loss away to current league leaders Juventus.

Since then, the Giallorossi side have done superbly well, picking up maximum points and have only conceded four goals between their last defeat and now. The club also have also scored the most goals in the league alongside second place Napoli

However, Fiorentina are on a good undefeated record themselves too. The Viola are unbeaten in their last seven league games, but their away form hasn’t been really good, only winning one of the last five on the road.

Nikola Kalinic will be the man to look out for, scoring eleven goals and assisting three in 18 appearances. Fiorentina will be expected to continue their big threat attacking down the wings which allows them to counter well. Their downfall, however, has been that they have found it really hard to protect the lead once taking it.

Team news

Luciano Spalletti's side will be expected to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation like usual. Lucas Digne will miss the next game in the league if he picks up a yellow card, whilst Elio Capradossi, Ezequiel Ponce, Norbert Gyomber and Daniele De Rossi are all still injured.

Roma predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Florenzi, Rudiger, Manolas, Digne; Nainggolan, Keita; Salah, Pjanic, El Shaarawy; Perotti.

Meanwhile, Paulo Sousa’s team should be similar to the one that faced Napoli, with a chance of one or two changes. Mauro Zarate will miss the game as he his serving his final match of the three game suspension.

Fiorentina predicted line-up (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Roncaglia, Rodriguez, Astori, Alonso; Badelj, Vecino; Tello, Valero, Bernardeschi; Kalinic.

What to expect

Roma are doing unbelievably well after the Juventus defeat and, even though Fiorentina are on some good form too lately, Miralem Pjanic and the Roma attack ahead of him are too good.

Roma should win this game confidently and comfortably, especially with them having the best goal scoring record in the league too.
