With the league title gone, Real Madrid's final game with Espanyol is mere preparation for next week's Champions League final.

However, despite this, they will be looking to put in a good performance to ensure they go into the final in a buoyant mood after only picking up two points in their last three La Liga matches.

Gareth Bale, who made the decisive contribution in the Copa Del Rey Final, will be hoping to perform well enough to earn a starting place in next week's team for the final.

Speaking to BT Sport he told the channel: “We know how well they’ve played this season and we know what we’re capable of so I think as long as we execute our game plan on the day then hopefully we do win and yes, I think we have a lot of confidence going into the game and something we’re looking forward to.  Obviously it would be a dream if we lift the trophy.”

The Welsh international was also praiseworthy of team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

"He is such a nice guy, so helpful and always wants the best for the team,

"Obviously people write things about him but people who actually know him know exactly what he is like and he’s a great man and a great footballer as well," Bale said.
