Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata didn’t have a lot of minutes for Los Merengues this past season, as he’s behind players like Karim Benzema, Isco and Jesé in Carlo Ancelotti’s depth chart. Despite being a serviceable role player for the UEFA Champions League winners, his time at Santiago Bernabeu could be coming quickly to an end.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti did nothing to deny those rumors and instead, he left the door open for a possible transfer regarding the Spaniard sooner than later.

“Morata wants to look for a chance to play more minutes. The club agrees and if he is willing to pursue that option, it would be good to give him an opportunity. If he leaves the team, we have to think about bringing in a similar young striker.”, Ancelotti told reporters.

It’s still not clear where Morata will play next season but there should be plenty of teams knocking on Real Madrid’s door to land the youngster. Several Premier League sides have expressed interest in him in recent years and so have done some La Liga teams. He could even be included in a package deal on a bigger transfer.

The only thing that is certain is that Alvaro Morata might not return to Real Madrid after the World Cup. If that’s the case, expect Los Blancos to pursue another young striker loaded with potential to replace him.
