At the beginning of the year, there were a number of rumours circulating, regarding the future of Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi. Clubs such as Manchester City and PSG were reportedly interested in meeting his whopping £250m buy-out clause. This hasn't happened, and isn't likely to happen either. Leo Messi has reiterated his desire to stay at Barcelona on a number of occassions. But as rumours linking Luis Suarez with a move to Barcelona began to circulate. We have been left wondering whether we would also see a big name leave the Camp Nou this summer. We may do. But it's expected that the big name will be Alexis Sanchez and not, Lionel Messi.

Messi has only recently signed a new deal with Barcelona - whom he has promised to never to leave. It is said his new contract is worth around £16m a year, which is an extraordinary amount of money. But many would argue that he's certainly worth it. At the same time though, Monaco, PSG and Manchester City could potentially better his contract, but Messi doesn't seem interested in leaving the club he joined at 12 years old at least for the moment.

Barcelona's club president Josep Maria Bartomeu stated at a press conferece that "Lionel Messi is unsellable." He also went on to confirm "As far as we're aware, he has no intention of leaving the club. He is very happy here".

It would appear that the Argentinian superstar will remain in Spain for the foreseeable future, and Barcelona will be all the better for it. I suppose the next question will be, "Where will Suarez fit in?"

That's one for new coach Luis Enrique to sort out.
