After completing the signing of Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia yesterday, Barcelona have now turned their attentions to Thomas Vermaelen as they seek one more defensive addition.
It has now been confirmed that Marquinhos (their initial preferred target) will stay at PSG for the immediate future, after a period of uncertainty around his future.
With that in mind, Barca are now pursuing the Belgian defender and have already lodged enquiries to the London club about his availability.
It's thought that they will need to go head-to-head with Manchester United for his signature, however. After having their advances for Mats Hummels rejected by Dortmund earlier this week, they are also now determined to to sign Vermaelen as an alternative.
