Ten-man Valencia came from behind to snatch a point at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan

Aleix Vidal's first half goal looked to be enough to separate the sides.

It certainly looked to be the difference  when Rodrigo De Paul was sent off minutes into his debut for a elbow on Vidal.

However, substitute Lucas Orban earned Valencia a draw when he pounced in the six-yard box.

Valencia were the side who started the game the happier with their first big chance coming in the first ten minutes. Pablo Piatti was left wondering how he had failed to give them the lead after hitting the post following a through ball from Paco Alcacer.

They fancied their chances further when Sevilla's goalkeeper, Beto was subsituted for Mariano Barbosa after pulling his hamstring during a clearance.

But they were left rueing their luck when Aleix Vidal, signed from Almeria, made a perfect start to his Sevilla career by taking advantage of rebound from Diego Alves following a through pass from the lively Carlos Bacca.

In the second half they went in search of the much needed equaliser but it didn't seem forthcoming. First Paco Alcacer blazed his first real opening over the bar. Then Rodrigo De Paul was sent off for a foul on Aleix Vidal just minutes after coming on for his debut.

It seemed desperate for Valencia as they pressed for an equaliser. Dani Parejo wasted two freekicks in the dying embers as he appeared to throw away their final chances.

But they were not to be denied as Lucas Orban took advantage of some poor Sevilla defending to earn his side a vital draw.

The game fit what was expected of as the two sides shared the spoils in a cagey encounter. Both sides, who are expected to challenge for the Champions League, showed what they can do but there was certain element of caution to the game.

Sevilla will face Espanyol in Barcelona next week, while Valencia face a home game against Malaga who managed a 1-0 win over Athletic.
