Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to training following a back injury.

The Portuguese forward was shaking off a knee injury suffered in this summer’s World Cup when he appeared to hurt his back in the Super Cup first leg draw with Atletico Madrid. Its been reported that Ronaldo has trained alone for up to six hours a day to speed up his recovery. Well known for his commitment to fitness, Ronaldo has trained with fitness coaches at Madrid’s Ciudad Real Madrid training complex, intent on making a quick recovery.

Ronaldo has resumed training with Real Madrid and was joined by those on international duty, including the likes of Sergio Ramos, James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos. Ronaldo missed his countries shock loss at the hands of Albania this week, as well as Madrid’s surprise defeat away at Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping his star man is ready to face rivals Atletico this Saturday. Atletico, last seasons La Liga champions, have already beaten their Madrid counterparts this season, in the 2014 Spanish Super Cup. That is despite losing a host of key players and the Real Madrid faithful will be hoping their 2013-14 top scorer will be fit, with points at a premium.
