Newly-appointed Real Sociedad manager David Moyes has labelled his recent move the “biggest challenge of his career” after being granted an 18-month deal.

Having been handed a colossal six-year-deal at the Theatre of Dreams last season - replacing the illustrious Sir Alex Ferguson after 26 years at the club - David Moyes has taken a shorter contract in the La Liga, after his contract was terminated after just 10 months in Manchester.

I've always felt to be completely fulfilled as a coach, you need to make sure you’ve tried all the cultures and look to enhance yourself.

"It's always been my ambition to manage abroad. I've always felt to be completely fulfilled as a coach, you need to make sure you’ve tried all the cultures and look to enhance yourself.

"And I feel at this stage that I'm at, it's the right time. I'm well rested, I've had six months off and I've got to say I'm raring to go."

During his short spell out of managerial action, Moyes claims he rejected a number of deals within the Premier League, and was also closely linked to replacing former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini at Turkish club Galatasaray earlier in the season. He added:

"I really think that coming here gives me the opportunity to manage in La Liga."

"I never had any doubt. I've had several offers to manage back in the Premier League, I spoke to several clubs in different countries but the only job that really tugged at the heart strings and made me think that this is the right club has been Sociedad.

Replacing Jagoba Arrasate seven days after his dismissal, following a poor run of form leaving the club in 15th in the La Liga, Moyes has also suggested he feels the Spanish top tier is the greatest league in the world.

"I really think that coming here gives me the opportunity to manage in La Liga. I think at the present time you could say it's the best league in the world.

"So I'm really looking forward to the challenge, a big challenge but one that I’m really confident about."

The 51-year-old will take charge of the Basque club, who finished seventh last season, for the first time on Saturday 22nd November, when they will face Deportivo La Coruna.
