The 23-year-old French winger has publicly stated that he feels the Bayern goalkeeper deserves the prestigious prize over Messi and Ronaldo this year after his superb contribution to Germany's campaign in the 2014 World Cup back in Brazil in the summer.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper has established himself as the best in his position, across the world with his consistent performances over the past few years. Neuer has publicly stated that he does not think he will win the award, because he is not a star off-the-field as he is on it (indirectly hinting at rival Ronaldo).

Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily tipped to win the award, given the fact that the Portuguese forward was the driving force as Real won their record 10th UEFA Champions League title back in May as well as winning the award this time last year in 2013.

Meanwhile Barcelona centre-forward Lionel Messi has silenced his critics once again, spearheading the Argentina attack as they narrowly missed out on the World Cup trophy in July. Despite being injured for the majority of last season, Messi still managed to stay on the same level as closest rival Ronaldo, with many suggesting that the Argentinian maestro should be rewarded as a result of his efforts. He has also broke a number of different records over the past calendar year, but will it be enough?

Griezmann himself had this to say: "I'm with Neuer because, basically, I'm neither in favour of Messi or Ronaldo. Neuer is a great goalkeeper and is now a world champion. But all three deserve the Ballon d'Or; they all had great years, so may the best man win.

Who will win the award? Find out, on the 12th of January in 2015!
