After their disappointing 3-1 defeat away from home against Spanish giants Barcelona in their last Champions League group stage game, PSG's centre-back David Luiz had this to say in the post-match interview:

"We could play against Real Madrid or we could play against another team - either way, all that qualified are great teams with great squads of players and we are prepared to face them all. PSG don't think about avoiding the best clubs, we think about being prepared to do our job against anyone if we want to be champions of Europe."

Given their defeat, it meant that Laurent Blanc's men finished in second place in Group F behind Barca, meaning that they could play against the following teams in the Last 16 of the competition after Christmas -

1. Defending champions Real Madrid

2. Last season's runners-up Atlético Madrid

3. Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, who got to the semis last year

4. Premier League leaders Chelsea, who also got to the semi-finals in 2013

5. German side Borussia Dortmund, one of the regular dark horses to go all the way

6. Portuguese giants FC Porto, they've got to this stage six times since the 2004-05 season and elsewhere have been involved in the Europa League

The 27-year-old defender also had this to say: "PSG are candidates to win the Champions League. We just have to think like always: that we are a great club and to have the philosophy of win every game and prepare properly. It wasn't bad luck (on their loss) - Neymar, Luis Suárez and Messi are always going to create goalscoring opportunities. They served each other well and that's part of football; they have three incredible forwards. Messi is fantastic, the best player ever.

Some strong words, and PSG have to be prepared to go head-to-head with the world's best if they are going to win their first-ever UEFA Champions League title in this campaign. The chances though, are unlikely.
