Bottom of the table Elche host Villarreal on Saturday as they look to save their top flight status in 2015.

Elche have just ten points from their sixteen games and come into this game on a run of six games without a win including four losses in a row. They have the worst defence in La Liga and have won just one of their eight home games.

Elche will be without Edu Albacar who is suspended and also look to be without Pedro Mosquera, Jose Angel and Sergio Pelegrin who are injured.

Villarreal will come into this game in high spirits after a great finish to 2014. They have won their last seven in a row (five in La Liga) and have been unbeaten in ten games in all competitions. They are currently fifth in the table, just one point behind Valencia in the fourth and final Champions League spot.

Much of Villarreal's success has come courtesy of two summer signings, Luciano Vietto from Racing Club and Denis Cheryshev on loan from Real Madrid. Vietto has seven goals and two assists in La Liga and Cheryshev has two goals and eight assists. The two have been excellent in attack and combining them with a solid defence has been a very successful formula for Marcelinho.

Villarreal come into the game without Tomas Pina (suspended), Cani (injured) and Mateo Musacchio (injured) but they do have a few selection headaches with Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos, Ikechukwu Uche and Moi Gomez battling for two attacking places but Marcelinho won't mind being in that position.

On current form Villarreal will be strong favourites to win this one against an Elche side who have struggled this season. As the weeks go past Elche will become increasingly desperate for points and if they raise their game they could upset El Submarino Amarillo.
