At the Estadio Nuevo Arcangel, in Cordoba, a relegation battle took place and the hosts came away with all three points as Córdoba would get their second win of the campaign as they won 2-0 over Granada.

It was all Granada early as they maintained a majority of the possession and opportunities in the first few minutes of the match. Jhon Córdoba, Javi Marquez, and Piti all had chances within the first 10 minutes as the hosts looked to sit back and hit Granada on the break. Jhon Córdoba's header missed to the right, Marquez's left-footed shot was hit wide of the target, and Piti's long range bomb missed well to the right of the goal.

Then seemingly out of nowhere, Córdoba went on the break and Ekeng Ekeng found in the center of the box, after they stretched it out wide, and Ghilas was able to smack the ball into the back of the net with just sixteen minutes off of the clock. This summarized Granada's season perfectly. They just do not have the fire power up front to be able to finish their chances when it matters most and that'll haunt them every single match. The match got very physical after that as neither side was able to really maintain possession with all of the tackles flying in.

Piti had another shot miss high right before the half an hour mark before El-Arabi was called offside three minutes later as Rico tried to release him behind Córdoba's defense. Cartibia nearly got on the score sheet for Córdoba a minute later, but his header was saved excellently by Olazabal. Rico hit a sensational costless kick from the edge of the eighteen yard box that just missed inches off of the near post that would have been a senseational goal. A minute before half time, Córdoba hit Granada with the dagger. It was the same type of goal again. The home side stretched the ball out wide and Andone was found in the middle of the box and he was able to tap the ball into the back of the net to double the hosts lead.

Five minutes after the restart, Ghilas had another good look at goal, but his effort is high and wide after Ekeng Ekeng found the Algerian once more in this match. The only shot on target for Granada came in the 56th minute of play as Piti hit a ball that was destined for the bottom right hand corner, but Juan Carlos was up to the task and saved the effort excellently.

Granada maintained possession for the rest of the match, practically, but never got a good look after the save and dropped three more points as they continue their horrendous form. For the home side, Córdoba, these three points could potentially be a turning point and could see them string together a few good results with the confidence from this match as they try to avoid the drop.
