At the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes in Granada, Spain, as Real Sociedad travel to the southern part of Spain for their 18th match of the campaign.

Real Sociedad have not have the best of seasons so far. David Moyes is coming off of a 1-0 first leg defeat to Villarreal in the Copa Del Rey quarter-finals away from home. In the first match of the New Year, however, an unfortunate own goal from Jordi Alba in the second minute of play. Despite having just 30% of the possession, Moyes and company managed to hang on and gain all three points.

If they could earn a victory today, the will move into the top half of the table. Carlos Vela, Agirrexte, Xabi Prieto, are all fantastic support footballers and are capable of finding the back of the net as well. It will be up to these guys to apply pressure on the Granada defense to try and find a way behind the back four.

For the home side, things could not have gotten off to a worse start. After 17 matches thus far El Graná have won just twice, while drawing seven and losing the other eight matches. It is going to be a long season for head coach, Joaquin Capparos, as his squad boasts the worst offense in the league along with one of the worst defenses in La Liga.

This translates into a negative 24 goal difference, which is third worst in the entire league. In their last match against Cordoba, they were hit twice by the same type of goal. The opposition worked the ball outside, spreading their back four, and hit the ball back towards the middle leaving a forward wide open inside the box. This will need to be a priority as soon as possible if they want to avoid the drop into La Liga Adelante.

David Moyes will have to get into his reserves a bit for this match as Dani Estrada, Zurutuza, Joseba Zaldua all miss the trip south through injury while Inigo Martinez, Bergara, and Granero will be out through suspension. The home side won’t find it much easier with Cordoba, Luis Martins, Murillo, Rochina, and Machis are all sidelined because of various ailments.

Granada will need to be focused throughout the ninety minutes if they want to be able to gain a point from the match. The home side can be exposed if they are not careful. For Real Sociedad, 2015 could not have gotten off to a better start in league after beating Barcelona. However, David Moyes should be able to get his side motivated enough to come away with all three points.
