Sevilla has not lost at all at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and that trend continued yesterday evening as they knocked defeated a very good road team in Malaga, by a score of two goals to zero. With this victory, Los Rojiblancos move into fourth place and with a game in hand, albeit it’s against Real Madrid, they are in prime position to play try and crack into the top three.

Carlos Bacca waltzed into the penalty area, however, he could not control his effort as the Malaga goalkeeper made an excellent save in the nineteenth minute, which was the first real look at goal for either side. Nine minutes later, Bacca would have another opportunity to fire Sevilla in front after Reyes’ excellent through ball put the striker behind the defense, but Carlos Kamani stopped the shot well as he dove to his right.

Malaga would get their first real chance of the night after a bad back pass rolled to Duda, who was in acres of space. The attacking midfielder took a couple of touches forward, unfortunately, he scuffed the shot a bit and it missed to the left of the goal, five minutes after the half hour mark. The home side would finally be able to knock the door down just a minute later.

Gerard Deulofeu made a good run to get just inside the box and looped the ball over the defense to Bacca. The forward took the ball down with his left foot and settled it, swung his right leg and laced the ball into the back of the net giving the home side the lead after 36 minutes had eclipsed. Four minutes later, Diogo Figueiras shot the ball from a very tight angle from the right side of the pitch, but it soared above the goal, five minutes before the interval.

The second half was fairly slow moving. There were a lot of whistles in the first fifteen minutes after the interval that it really slowed down the pace and neither side was really able to get any momentum going. Well, that was until Sevilla netted their second goal of the evening.

It started out with Grzegorz Krychowiak winning the ball in the middle of the pitch off of Malaga’s Javi Guerra. The ball fell to Denis Suarez and he stormed towards the eighteen yard box. Bacca was waiting off towards the left and Suarez played a quick little one-two which caused Malaga’s defense to switch off for just a second. That second, however, is all that was needed for Suarez to place it perfectly into the far right corner of the goal, doubling the lead.
