In La Liga on Friday evening, Deportivo La Coruna will travel to the capital to take on the 10th placed Rayo Vallecano in an intriguing battle at the Estadio del Rayo Vallecano.

Rayo Vallecano have been inconsistent all season long and it continued after the winter break. They have won two out of their first four, while also losing the other two matches. In the victories, los franjirrojos looked very solid as they defeated Getafe and Real Sociedad away from home. However, in their two losses, Rayo have not looked good at all losing to Cordoba at home followed that up with a loss to Atletico Madrid by a score of 3-1 as Antoine Griezmann bagged a brace.

In Depor’s last match, they drew 2-2 with Granada in a very enthralling encounter as both sides pushed each other to the brink. It was Granada’s Piti who got the initial breakthrough with just seven minutes off the clock before Deportivo took a 2-1 lead with their two goals coming in the 34th and 38th minute of play. Granada would steal a point with less than ten minutes to go through Robert Ibanez pushing Deportivo La Coruna back to the sixteenth spot in the table.

For Rayo Vallecano, they will go into this match with a clean bill of health and Paco will certainly be pleased knowing he can choose the best possible starting eleven. The visitors are without the suspended Luis Farina, who will not be back until the sixth of February and Helder Postiga is still dealing with a back injury that has kept him out since the third day of the year.

Do not expect much from this match at all as both sides are pretty inept when going up the pitch. There will be a misplaced pass or five in the process so expect the three points to be won by either an indirect free kick or off of a corner.
