At the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, a late strike from Iago Aspas would steal all three points away as Sevilla continue to hunt for another European spot.

Iago Aspas stole the show at the end of the match, but he also got the first shot of the night away as he had a header saved well by Casilla after six minutes had ticked off the clock. Then it would be Alejandro Arribas who would have a crack, eight minutes later, however, his shot was hit straight into the hands of the Espanyol goalkeeper. This would be an early warning sign for Espanyol as the hosts looked to dominate the possession and the flow of the game by pressuring the visitors back four constantly.

The tides turned in the 15th minute, thoughh, as Salvo Sevilla was fouled inside the by Beto, and it was clearly a penalty the Sevilla goalkeepe's legs clipped the forwards. Stuani stepped up to the spot and placed the ball powerfully into the back of the net, changing the momentum of the match completely. Sevilla would continue to on the attack afterwards as Daniel Carrico missed a close shot but it missed to the left. Vitolo would have a chance a couple of minutes later as his effort barely misses the target to the left. In the 20th minute of play, an Aspas header was saved comfortably by Casilla.

Sevilla would finally get reward for all of their hard work in the 26th minute with an absolutely stunning strike from Diogo Figueiras. He won the ball on the left flank, breaking up a possible counter from Espanyol. Figueiras picked his head up quickly and fired the ball into the bottom left hand corner in what will probably be one of the best goals you will see all season long. Nine minutes later, Sevilla would go in front as Alex Vidal made a good run into the box. Casilla came out to try and get the ball, but Vidal squared it for Vitolo and the 25-year-old Spaniard tapped the ball into the back of the net. Shortly after that, Iago Aspas was clear through and tried to loop Casilla, but the Espanyol goalkeeper stuck out his hand to stop the ball and was immediately sent off as he stopped a goal scoring opportunity.

Ten minutes after the hour mark, Navarro's header missed to the left off of a cross from Ever Banega. Javi Lopez started a fast break for Espanyol down the right flank, with 13 minutes left to go. He tried to play a one-two with Victor Sancez at the top of the box, the return ball was cut out and deflected back to Sanchez. He the ball first time and it bent just inside the near post leveling the match at two all.
