At the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Friday evening, Getafe put on a show for their supporters as they got an important 2-1 victory over Espanyol.

Pablo Sarabia was finally rewarded for all of his hard work early in the match as he scored an absolute beauty of a goal in the 33rd minute of the match. The ball was worked out wide to Alexis and he delivered a great ball into the box. Sarabia jumped up and volleyed the ball into the back of the net.

The first shot on target from the visitors didn’t come until three minutes after the restart when Christian Stuani’s shot fell straight into the hands of the Getafe goalkeeper. In the 50th minute, Pedro Leon got on the end of a cross, but his header was saved well by Francisco Casilla.

The host’s second goal of the match came shortly before the hour mark through Alvaro Vazquez. Sarabia was involved in the process again, making a fantastic run down the right side of the pitch, working hard and getting into the box. He hit the ball back towards A. Vazquez, who was in the middle of the 18 yard box, and the goal scorer blasted the ball into the back of the net, leaving Casilla absolutely no chance.

Despite being down by two, Espanyol continued to try to attack which was definitely pleasing to see. Shortly after the hour mark, Lucas Vazquez attempted a couple of shots on target, but Lopez was able to handle both efforts easily. Salva Sevilla came off the bench for Espanyol and had a decent outing, barely missing a shot on target in the 77th minute, and with nine minutes left to go in the match, he had a shot stopped in the bottom right corner of the goal.

Espanyol were finally able to beat the opposing goal keeper late in the match as Anaitz Arbilla got on the score sheet. Getafe failed to clear their lines and the ball finally got to Arbilla. He lined up a shot and hit the ball clean as it soared across the goal line from 25 yards away, giving his side a bit of a consolation prize.
