Cordoba have sacked their Serbian head coach, Miroslav Djukic after a run of eight straight defeats in La Liga.

Djukic was in charge of the Andalusian side for less than five months after replacing Albert Ferrer on the 20th October 2014.

The Serbian made a respectable start to his tenure with seven points in eight games including a win over Athletic Bilbao. 2015 started extremely well for Cordoba with seven points from three games against Granada, Rayo Vallecano and Eibar but that was as good as it got for Los Califas.

Since drawing against Eibar in January Djukic's team lost eight straight in La Liga although six of those defeats were by a single goal. The final straw appears to have been their 2-0 defeat to Malaga at the weekend which has left them seven points from safety and strong favourites for relegation.

Djukic's replacement will be Cordoba's reserve team manager, Jose Antonio Romero who will be in charge until the end of the season. Romero has a tough job on his hands to save Cordoba and with games against Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Barcelona among their last eleven games it will take a huge effort to avoid the drop to the Segunda.
