La Liga champions Atletico Madrid will look to get their second league victory in four days to keep on the heels on Real Madrid and Barcelona when they welcome Real Sociedad to the Vincente Calderon on Tuesday night.

After three consecutive draws Madrid managed to get back on track with two consecutive victories with a win over Getafe before the international break and an Antoine Griezmann brace secured a 2-0 win over Cordoba at the weekend.

That win moved them back into third in La Liga after Valencia drew with Valenica on Sunday, their rivals face a tough test midweek with Athletic Club a win for Diego Simeone’s side here will create some space between the two.

Real Sociedad go into this match in the best form so far this season, they have managed to pick up 13 points in the last 18 with one defeat in the last seven matches. David Moyes’ side are unbeaten in the last four games with three victories and a 1-1 draw in their last games against Malaga which has seen them climb to 10th. They have a strong record against the elite teams in La Liga this campaign with three of their nine wins coming against Real Madrid, Barcelona and their hosts.

Madrid will welcome back defender Miranda after serving his two-match suspension but after an impressive performance at the weekend Jose Gimenez could retain his place alongside fellow Uruguayan Diego Godin. Simeone will have to reshuffle at the back after Juanfran suspended after picking up a suspension at the weekend.

Tuesday could finally see Mexican forward Carlos Vela return to the Real Sociedad after Moyes decided to leave him out at the weekend but it is more likely that the club top scorer will start on the bench. There will be a change in the Sociedad defence after Ion Ansotegi picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign.
