Barcelona's Brazilian wing-back Dani Alves is set to agree a surprise deal to stay with the Catalan club next season, according to widespread media reports.

Cadena SER’s ‘El Partido de las 12’ programme has claimed that Alves is likely to stay at Barça for at least another year with a deal of some sort already agreed.

Alves, 31, had been widely expected to be on his way out of the Camp Nou in the summer, but with Los Culés under the restrictions of a transfer ban, club chiefs were said to be keen to keep hold of one of their longest-serving current players.

And, despite allegedly receiving offers from European heavyweights such as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, it now looks as if Alves will stay at the club he has played for for almost seven years.

It has been suggested that Alves was offered a 12-month agreement with an option for a further year, despite the player and his agent, former wife Dinorah Santa Ana, hoping for a three-year contract.

But with Alves remaining a popular and valued member of the dressing room and his children Victoria and Daniel settled in the area, it looks as though he will be looking to add to the four league titles he has won during his time at the club so far.

Since moving from Sevilla in the summer of 2008, Alves has made 335 senior appearances for Barça, scoring 20 goals and lifting numerous league and cup trophies along the way. He could have more to add to the collection by the end of this season, with the club leading the La Liga title race and in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
