It has been three years now since Bayern manager Pep Guardiola first left the place where he called home from his playing and beginning of his managerial career. Now, he returns as a rival to take on the Blaugrana for a place in the final of the 2015 UEFA Champions League in Berlin.

Guardiola won 14 titles, including two Champions Leagues, during four golden years in charge of Barcelona.

Pep has already sealed the Bundesliga title this season, is now hoping to guide Bayern to similar success and finds Barca, now managed by his former team-mate and assistant Luis Enrique, standing in the way of a Champions League final appearance.

La Liga leaders Barcelona have their sights on treble success this season and go into the game in superb form. They have won six in succession in all competitions and not conceded for five games. Their last two results have seen them thrash Getafe 6-0 and Cordoba 8-0.

Bayern have also enjoyed a fine season, but their own treble hopes were hit by defeat in the German Cup semi-finals to Borussia Dortmund last week on penalties.

The German champions come into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen but will have fond memories of this fixture after inflicting Barcelona's heaviest European defeat in a 7-0 thrashing at the same stage of the competition two years ago, where that year they were eventually crowned champions by winning the treble.

In team news, the home side have almost healthy squad with the exception of Jeremy Mathieu, who will miss the clash due to an Achilles tendon problem allowing manager Enrique to have the advantage of being able to field their strongest squad, with the trio of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi up front as the main attack.

For the Bavarians, it's much worse. Robert Lewandowski flew with the squad to Barcelona but is a major doubt for tomorrow's matchup whilst French winger Franck Ribery was amongst those left behind. As well as Ribery, Guardiola will be without midfielder Arjen Robben and defensive duo Holger Badstuber and David Alaba for the trip to Spain.

Quotes:

''Guardiola knows us all very well and we were fortunate enough to win lots of titles under him. He's the kind of coach that analyses everything so he will know all about the Barcelona players who weren't here when he was. I haven't kept in touch regularly with Pep since he left. I had a great relationship with him when he was here though. We don't have excuses now and neither do Bayern. I know they have injuries but Bayern are such a big club they can't complain about that.''- Lionel Messi

"It's clear that we have a lot of individual skills which can turn a match like this, but we are also solid at the back and our collective solidarity makes us stronger. Pep has taken the great things about the side and added his own personal touch. I like them, the way they are very intense in attack and firm at the back."- Luis Enrique

''We are very confident ahead of the match tomorrow. We have played very well this season. We respect Barcelona but they respect us too. I am sure the team will play at their best. It's difficult to say who the best player in the world is, but tomorrow we will see some of the best in the world. When you play against Luis Suárez, [Lionel] Messi and Neymar at this stage, you don’t really need to change your approach. I know who I am playing against, I know who they are I know what their strong points are.''- Manuel Neuer

''It's hard to find weak points with so much talent. Barça always want to have the ball. We'll see who comes out on top there and reaches the final. Their players know me. But they don't know my players. Maybe we can surprise them. We have to score, it will be difficult to play well in Munich if we don't score here. We need at least one goal. It's virtually impossible to just defend here. Barcelona are an important part of my life but I am here to win. I will be very happy if we score a goal, but I don't know what my reaction will be.''- Pep Guardiola
