Having already secured their La Liga status for another season, both Levante and Elche will be playing for pride on Saturday in the first match of the last match day of the 2014/15 season.

The hosts held on to their top flight status only just as they currently sit just our points above the relegation zone. Lucas Alcaraz’s side have failed to win in the last three matches with a defeat to Levante, draw with Atletico Madrid and a 2-0 loss to Deportivo La Coruna last week has left a bitter taste to the end of the campaign.

They currently sit only four points behind their opponents ahead of kick-off, however a win would only see them as high as 14th depending the result in Getafe’s game with Real Madrid but even that would be a bitter disappointment for their fans having finished in 10th the previous season.

A strong run of form April all but secured Elche’s safety with three victories over; Cordoba, Real Sociedad and Deportivo, however they have failed to carry that form into May. They started well with a 2-1 victory away to Malaga but consecutive defeats to Villarreal and Athletic Club followed, the latter would have been the worst giving away a 2-0 lead in the final 10 minutes to ultimately lose 3-2.

Like their hosts there isn’t much to play apart for pride for Fran Escriba’s side even with a win they could leapfrog Real Sociedad into 12th due to substantial goal difference, it was goalless draw the last time these two met back in August and will be hoping to build on that this time around.

Levante’s top scorer David Barral is available again for the hosts after serving his suspension and should slot straight back into the side, Kalu Uche is still a doubt and Pape Diop will be out. After securing their top-flight status there could be major rotations with; David Navarro, Nabil El Zhar and Nikos Karabelas all in contention for an appearance.

Elche will be missing their top scorer Jonathas due to his accumulation of yellow cards with Cristian Herrera likely to take his place. Jose Angel and Lomban will be missing from this match through injury.
