A Spanish publication, Don Balon, has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Real Madrid this summer.

It has been claimed that the Portuguese superstar is growing increasingly unhappy in the Spanish capital and that he will inform his agent, Jorge Mendes to push for a transfer away from the Spanish giants.

Ronaldo publicly showed his support for Carlo Ancelotti by tweeting that he hoped to work alongside the Italian next season but Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez relieved Ancelotti of his duties on Monday. Ronaldo is also thought to be unhappy with Rafael Benitez's imminent arrival as Ancelotti's replacement and the constant support Perez has shown for Welsh winger, Gareth Bale.

While Ronaldo may want to leave the Santiago Bernabeu it is unlikely that Real would agree to sell the man who is the current holder of the prestigious Ballon d'Or that is awarded to the world's best football player. Ronaldo is 30 years old but scored 61 goals in all competitions this season so there are no signs to suggest the Portuguese star is past his best.

In the unlikely event that Ronaldo and Real Madrid agree that it is time to go their separate ways another problem would be finding a club that could afford him. There are only a small number of clubs who could afford what it would take to buy Ronaldo and that number becomes even fewer when you take into consideration that those clubs are restricted by UEFA's financial fair play regulations.

Ronaldo may well be unhappy in Madrid and this saga could go on for much of the summer with Ronaldo being linked to a number of clubs but the reality is that when the season gets underway again in August it would be a huge surprise to see Cristiano Ronaldo in anything other than the famous white shirt of Real Madrid.
