Sky Sports first reported the information that puts the Italian international quite close to sign with Real Madrid in a deal that would make him the first signing of Los Merengues for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

Even though the terms haven't been published, the rumors indicate that Real Madrid will pay the Italian playmaker the sum of €7M per year although the duration of the deal isn't specified. Verratti, however, is under contract with PSG so in the case Madrid wants to make a deal, then they will have to negotiate with the French giants who are expected to be very reluctant to sell one of their most important players.

Several media outlets report that Real Madrid are expected to offer an initial sum between €50M and €60M to land the 22-year-old.

It remains to be seen if whether Rafa Benitez will be keen to pay an elevated sum for the playmaker but all signs point towards a positive answer, Verratti is a player any manager would like to have and his style of play would fit in perfectly with Real Madrid's one as he has the tools to be a perfect defensive enforcer behind the likes of James Rodriguez, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
