Russian winger Denis Cheryshev has said in an interview with AS that he does not know what his future will bring.

Cheryshev spent last season on loan with Villarreal and he had a superb season scoring seven goals and getting nine assists as El Submarino Amarillo finished 6th in La Liga to qualify for the Europa League. The Russian international spent the previous season on loan at Sevilla but he struggled to make an impact with the Andalusians.

When asked about his future Cheryshev told AS; "I have no idea as to what is going to happen, I’ve spoken to Marcelino and he confirmed that Villarreal hope to have my services next season but that’s all. I don’t know where I’ll be next season. The holidays are imminent so we’ll have to see what materializes. If no ‘irresistible’ offer comes through, then my first option would be to stay with Villarreal. I’m convinced that in terms of professional set up and sporting ambition, this club is way ahead of many others. I know that if I stay with Villarreal, I’ll be extremely happy, as I have been to date."

Cheryshev will now look to speak to new Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez to see if he features in the Spanishman's plans at the Bernabeu. With Cheryshev's best position being on the left wing his chances have been limited at Real due to Cristiano Ronaldo but there have been suggestions Benitez could deploy him as a striker which may give Cheryshev a chance to prove his worth to Los Blancos.
