Atletico Madrid have announced that they have sealed the signing of Luciano Vietto from Villarreal on a six year contract for a fee worth €20M. The Argentine will formalise his move and then link up with his new team-mates and coach Diego Simeone for training on Thursday.

A sensation in the making

The Argentine becomes the second player to be apart of Simeone's side as Angel Correa will also be apart of the club following his heart surgery last year that kept him out of the team but came back strong following fantastic performances in the South American Youth Championship in Uruguay earlier in the year.

Nevertheless, he will begin life working with El Cholo once again following his time playing for the coach at Racing Club in Argentina.

Background

The 21-year-old started his career at Racing where he played 3 seasons since signing his first professional contract in 2011 and scored 18 times in 73 matches.

Vietto only moved to Europe last summer when he joined Villarreal in Spain and bagged 20 goals in all competitions as well as in the Europa League in a highly-impressive debut campaign all the way to the Round of 16 before being eliminated by eventual winners Sevilla

He also finished the month of December with three goals, with his side moving to the sixth positions, and earning him the honour of La Liga Player of the Month.

His international career debut was in 2013 for the Argentina national under-20 team in the South American Youth Championship as he looks to possibly be apart of the new generation of players alongside Juventus' Paulo Dybala and Inter's Mauro Icardi as strikers in the future.

Vietto joins to provide competition to strikers Fernando Torres and Raul Jimenez following the sale of Mario Mandzukic to Juventus, with Porto's Jackson Martinez also set to arrive this summer as well to the Spanish capital.
