Iker Casillas, the most successful Spanish goalkeeper in club and national team history, has said his farewells to Real Madrid - the club that has been his home since he was nine years old.

The long-time Madrid shot-stopper will sign to Portuguese side Porto in the upcoming days as the announcement was made official by the club themselves recently.

What's Next?

Many rumours had been speculating his exit for some time, with various outlets talking about a move to Portugal following the end of the 2014-15 season.

The agreement will see Casillas sign a two-year contract at Porto - with an optional third year triggered if he makes more than 30 competitive appearances and a gross salary of €10 million.

He bid farewell to Real Madrid and Spanish football in a press conference on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The transfer comes at a pivotal time for the club, as rumours continue to build up over Madrid president Florentino Perez's desire to land Manchester United's David De Gea as the replacement of the FIFA World Cup winning goalkeeper.

San Iker Casillas: An icon

What else could be said about Iker Casillas? three UEFA Champions Leagues, a FIFA Club World Cup, Intercontinental Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, five league titles, two Copa del Reys and four Spanish Super Cups can answer that.

More importantly however, with such an established career in Spanish football - he will be best remembered for those four glorious years for the Spanish national team, where we won and lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and did the same in two European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
